New Technology Could Help Avoid Surgical Implant Infections

DeBogy Molecular is a biotech startup that claims it has developed a technology that can alter the surface of implants, so that bacteria cannot grow and cause infection in procedures such as hip and knee replacements.

Infections can often be the cause of repeat surgeries that are required to repair a knee or hip implant. A biotech startup now claims that it has the solution. It can alter the surface to make implants repel bacteria.

DeBogy Molecular a biotech company is currently developing antimicrobial skin modification technology that kills bacteria and prevents them from growing on surgical implants. This technology appears to have eliminated what's known bacterial biofilm. This is the accumulation of microorganisms and bacteria on surgical implants.
